About URL Encode Decode Tool

URL encoding, is a mechanism for encoding information in a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) because URLs can only be sent over the Internet using the ASCII character-set. Since URLs often contain characters outside the ASCII set, the URL has to be converted into a valid ASCII format. URL encoding replaces unsafe ASCII characters with a “%” followed by two hexadecimal digits.

URL Encode Decode Tool encodes or decodes string according to RFC 3986 standard.

According to RFC 3986, the characters in a URL have to be taken from a defined set of unreserved and reserved ASCII characters. Any other characters are not allowed in a URL.
